July...so far

Wow, July has been a very busy month so far. On athe first day of July Dana and I jumped in "Little Red" and drove to Portland Oregon to celebrate our 25th anniversary. It was a nice trip, we went to the OMSI museum of sience. It was an interesting museum, filled with dinosaurs, sience, kid friendly play areas, and hands of sience stuff for kids. They also have a lot of other things to do like a theater, plantarium and a submarine. We stayed near the airport area, went driving around portland, and went to Ikea. I loved going to Ikea, we went back the next day and had a lot of fun shopping. I have decided I would never live in Portland, as it is so busy, but it's a great place to visit.

Next we celebrated 4th of July. Kris and Julie came from Grants Pass, we had a BBQ and then they went to over to the beach to do fire works. I stayed home, as I was too sleepy to even think of going. But, they had a good time doing their Wyoming style fire works.

The next day we headed off for our vacation. We all piled into a nice rental van and headed down the 5 freeway to Disneyland. The first stop was in yreka at an old train yard/motel. The pictures will show how old and decreped the area has become.
We then drove into the Southern California without anymore tourist traps, arriving at about 11:30 pm. The next day was spent with Dana and I going to Toms Farm and then to see my sister and her family. I loved visiting with Lissa, Heather and her kids, Ron and Tony. Taylor is starting the 7th grade and Bella and GiGi are 4 yrs and almost 3yrs old and are the cutest kids ever. It was fun visiting. Kris, Julie, Robert and Kenneth went to see Julies Family who live in the L.A. area. The next day we visited Dana's parents and brother Glen. They are all doing well and the kids enjoyed swimming in the pool. Then Off to Disneyland, which is not doing well in attendance so we had a great time. We spent the whole day and night there having fun on all the rides without waiting in lines that were too long. We finished the night going on Splash Mountain, where we all we soaked to the skin, but we got a great photo. Finished the trip visiting with family and started home Thrusday night, arriving in Grants Pass in the early afternoon, turned the van back in and started home. We arrived in the Hiouchi area and discovered a forest fire had just started, narrowly escaping the road being closed. We would have had to drive 3 hours up and around, down the coast...so we were glad to get through.

So that is it for now, the rest of month will hopefully be a lot slower!
