christmas party for work
Went to our annual Christmas party for my agency last night. We gathered at the Northwoods Inn. It was a candle gift exchange...where we get a number and when your number is called you can pick an unopened gift or steal someone elses gift they have opened. I ended up with a sleigh like candle that had holly and berries. So I traded with Juanita for her picture frame (candle party?) It's a picture frame with snowmen, I am going to put a photo of Kris in it from christmas long ago and give it to Julie. I had a lot of fun, ate too much and didn't get home until 10 pm.
Above photos are friends Dora, Patti, Nana (marge) and Juanita.
one kid left...
Well...first Robert went to boot camp on Dec. 8th.
Then Nathan went on Dec. 15th.
Nathan is the boy in the reddish pink hair in the above photo, he is Roberts friend that we adopted for the last few months. They decided to dye their hair before going into boot camp. Robert dyed his back to brown before leaving, but Nathan went with the "woody wood pecker" hair. The girl in to photo is Roberts girl friend Ashley ( she is very nice!) Anyhow it is very quiet without the boys here, but Kenneth is loving being an only child!

knitting projects....
I am still working on 2 sweaters for myself, a baby sweater for baby Jude, a ear flap hat and a pair of socks. So who knows what I will finish next...or start next. I did just get two new patterns for hand knit wash clothes and soap sacks...good thing the pima cotton isn't near me!

Jake and the sun goes down....

Here is a picture of the pup named Jake! Someone left a chair pulled out from the table and Jake thought it was for him...I guess he thought it was his new bed. Tonight he was in the house laying on the floor with a pillow under his head. Bob gave it to him....said he needed to be comfortable.
Work on the house is getting done at a good pace...siding will go up on the front this week. Will have to post pictures when that is done so you can get an idea of what we are doing.
Enjoy one of our rare ( and I do mean rare) sunsets!

Less we forget I live in the rain forest...
After months of no measurable rain, it's back! Of course it is raining, I have 4 windows out of my house and I just washed my car! Thank God for plastic sheeting, the house is dry and the remodeling will begin again when the rain is gone! However I will not have to water all my flowers and the veggie garden!

Billie Bean
So here are the latest pictures of my cat Billie. She is a spoiled cat who spends her day eating, sleeping, playing with her hand knit mice, spying on her humming birds, and being the princess of the house. I knit her a very nice felted cat bed, she wont sleep in it, so I put it over her and that was ok with her. To be mean to her I knit her a sweater, she rolled all over the living room trying to get it off.
I think I am ready to go back to work, thank God Jake and Kelly weigh 95 pounds each, so there will be no knitting for them!

July...so far
Wow, July has been a very busy month so far. On athe first day of July Dana and I jumped in "Little Red" and drove to Portland Oregon to celebrate our 25th anniversary. It was a nice trip, we went to the OMSI museum of sience. It was an interesting museum, filled with dinosaurs, sience, kid friendly play areas, and hands of sience stuff for kids. They also have a lot of other things to do like a theater, plantarium and a submarine. We stayed near the airport area, went driving around portland, and went to Ikea. I loved going to Ikea, we went back the next day and had a lot of fun shopping. I have decided I would never live in Portland, as it is so busy, but it's a great place to visit.
Next we celebrated 4th of July. Kris and Julie came from Grants Pass, we had a BBQ and then they went to over to the beach to do fire works. I stayed home, as I was too sleepy to even think of going. But, they had a good time doing their Wyoming style fire works.
The next day we headed off for our vacation. We all piled into a nice rental van and headed down the 5 freeway to Disneyland. The first stop was in yreka at an old train yard/motel. The pictures will show how old and decreped the area has become.
We then drove into the Southern California without anymore tourist traps, arriving at about 11:30 pm. The next day was spent with Dana and I going to Toms Farm and then to see my sister and her family. I loved visiting with Lissa, Heather and her kids, Ron and Tony. Taylor is starting the 7th grade and Bella and GiGi are 4 yrs and almost 3yrs old and are the cutest kids ever. It was fun visiting. Kris, Julie, Robert and Kenneth went to see Julies Family who live in the L.A. area. The next day we visited Dana's parents and brother Glen. They are all doing well and the kids enjoyed swimming in the pool. Then Off to Disneyland, which is not doing well in attendance so we had a great time. We spent the whole day and night there having fun on all the rides without waiting in lines that were too long. We finished the night going on Splash Mountain, where we all we soaked to the skin, but we got a great photo. Finished the trip visiting with family and started home Thrusday night, arriving in Grants Pass in the early afternoon, turned the van back in and started home. We arrived in the Hiouchi area and discovered a forest fire had just started, narrowly escaping the road being closed. We would have had to drive 3 hours up and around, down the coast...so we were glad to get through.
So that is it for now, the rest of month will hopefully be a lot slower!

Kenneth and Buttercup
Kenneth is now a 16 year old! He is getting ready to drive, doing the book part on line. Soon he will move on to the car...I am not ready for this and think that Dana should have a turn teaching Ken. I taught Kris and Robert...both good drivers, but at least with robert I had a 4 year gap from teaching Kris. I don't think enough time has passed yet, so Dana it is your turn!
This is a photo of Ken with Buttercup the 18 year old orange tabby. He is still a tuff cat at 18 years of age...we are waiting to see who will find him "not" taking a nap. I feel it will be me...Picture it, I will be talking to the sleeping Buttercup (who can sleep at least 8 hours without movement, mostly because he can't.) all day, then I will decide to put him out...pick him up...only to discover that he had passed hours ago, and is stiff from death, not arthritis! Why can't he just die in the bush...and leave us wondering what happened to him?

Today's photos of the flower garden. The yellow rose bush is just so beautiful, it is breath taking. The other rose is an antique rose that we dug up from a house in Crescent city, it is called Joseph's coat. It starts out yellow and a blush pink and as it opens fully it turns to a red and pale yellow white. So I guess it was named for the coat of many colors. This is my pink azalea that is just blooming, it is so pretty.

Lil' Felted Purse
Here is my lateset knitting creation. I call it Lil' Felted Purse. I really enjoy felting wool and making my own designs. having been on disability for 6 weeks, I am knitting up a storm and am tired of knitting other peoples designs. So I came up with a little purse that is just big enough for a wallet, keys and a cell phone.
